'Copper peptides' is a marketing term. GHK-Cu is a chemically-defined complex. Here is the important distinction for research documentation.
In cosmetic marketing, 'copper peptides' is used loosely for any peptide-copper coordination complex. In research documentation, GHK-Cu specifically means the 1:1 complex of GHK with Cu²⁺ — a chemically defined species with a fixed mass, absorbance profile and copper content.
Why the distinction matters
- Different peptides bind copper with different stoichiometries and geometries.
- Only GHK-Cu has the extensive published signalling literature.
- A COA that reports only 'copper peptide' without specifying the peptide sequence is inadequate.
