5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule NNMT inhibitor studied in adipocyte-metabolism research. Full reference: mechanism, target biology and analytical notes.
5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small-molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). It is not itself a peptide, but is frequently supplied alongside peptide reference materials in weight-metabolism research programs.
Target biology
NNMT methylates nicotinamide using S-adenosyl methionine (SAM). Inhibition preserves both nicotinamide (an NAD+ precursor) and SAM, elevating cellular energy-metabolism substrates in adipocyte research models.
Documentation notes
- Analytical characterisation via HPLC and NMR.
- Small-molecule mass — NNMT-inhibition assay characterised.
- Solubility in aqueous buffer at physiological pH.
